Temple Newsam is a magnificent historic country house estate in Leeds dating back to the 1500s. Set in 1,500 acres of stunning woodland, parkland and landscaped gardens and it was the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots’ notorious husband Lord Darnley.
Owned by Leeds City Council, the estate is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the region and welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors every year.
Following a rigorous tendering process Leeds City Council’s audience development team selected CSDPrint to help them with their 2019 season rebranding at Temple Newsam. Having had a new corporate identity designed for the estate, the team was keen to work with a signage company that could accurately and creatively implement the new styling across a large range of external wayfinding and directional sign formats.
In particular they were looking for a hands-on signage company who had the capability to produce and install a broad range of signs and one that was fully aware of the stringent health and safety requirements needed.
There were 57 signs in total across a number of different formats including tray signs, finger posts, post signs, free-standing pavement signs, lecterns and post mounted box signs. Fabricating so many different signs and installing them across such a large site required detailed planning.
The majority of the signs were fitted in and around Temple Newsam house, the farm, courtyard tea rooms and car parks whilst visitors were present. Risk assessments and method statements were prepared, and comprehensive measures taken to ensure the safety of visitors and our staff during installation.
We are delighted to say everything went really well throughout the duration of this large project and we are extremely proud of the quality and effectiveness of all the signs produced. They look great in situ.
Commenting on our service, Lizzy Wilson of Leeds City Council said:
“We are thrilled with the outcome of this project with CSD Print, the signs look brilliant. The communication and client service surpassed our expectations, the CSD team helped us realise this project in a tight timeframe and showed commitment throughout to achieving this with us.”
